New data has revealed that almost every area of the classic car market experienced ‘price corrections’ in 2024. But it’s far from doom and gloom; market experts and representatives from the UK’s leading auction houses have shared their tips on cars they expect to buck the trend, plus alluring bargains set to emerge.

Hagerty’s market data shows that nearly half (46 per cent) of all the models covered in its UK Price Guide have dropped in value since December 2023, and 46.3 per cent remained static. However, as in many cases, prices were moving back to sustainable levels after the 2021–2023 post-Covid boom. Hagerty reckons the market remains generally healthy, with value drops not too dramatic overall, and events, restoration and sales companies reporting strong demand.

1960s cars – particularly British brands – have fallen most, with Hagerty’s Best of British index now sitting at 98 per cent of its value recorded when it was [...]

Croydon Classics has been trading for more than 30 years and attained a vast knowledge of the MG marque and specifically the MGBs.

If you are considering an MGB purchase and would like peace of mind, take a look at some of the most recent reviews for Croydon Classics Reviews which have been given by our customers.

If you are interested in one of our cars, then I can take a high quality 360 video of any car that we have in stock, and send it to you via email, or message me via WhatsApp. My number is 07990 977197. I can also arrange UK nationwide, or mainland European delivery at very competitive rates.

This time last year, it was reported that nearly every metric in the UK classic car market had increased in 2022. Despite the climbing cost of living, growing economic uncertainty, and almost weekly political leadership changes in the UK, nearly every segment of the classic car market continued its post-Covid boom. It seemed that collector vehicle values were immune to the realities of the world.

But of course, they weren’t. Throughout 2023, Hagerty has tracked a correcting market where sellers’ expectations were not, in many cases, being met by potential buyers’ willingness to part with cash that had become more expensive to borrow. The demographic needle has also shifted rapidly to point toward millennials as being the new driving force (excuse the pun) behind the classic car market, fuelling (same) the rise in new market segments and more vocal concerns about sustainability. The result was a year of correction, something that many people argued was long [...]

To help clean up London’s air, the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) operates 24 hour a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year, except Christmas day. However, if your classic MG is classed as Historic, which all models of MGB are because they are more than 40 years old, they are ULEZ exempt.

The first six months of 2021 were quite unlike the first six months of 2020. Most would prefer to put behind them the difficulties faced last year, as the early signs of a global pandemic became apparent and disruption to normal life took hold. This year, there has been more to cheer about. Football gave the nation a welcome lift, if not the fairytale ending, lockdown restrictions are set to lift and events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed and British Grand Prix have sped off the start line.

Judged on the results of sales, car enthusiasts and investors alike have put their foot down and given the classic car market an appreciable boost. Prices of MGBs, particularly the GT model are still rising, so get in there quickly as the’re still an good investment opportunity.

I hope you are keeping safe during this uncertain time.

Croydon Classics has been watching closely what the effects of COVID-19 is having on the Classic Car Market.

With most of the world in lockdown the classic car world has seen little slowdown, and we have seen a dramatic increase in our overall website users and leads sent from our online advertising. We are currently working with a number of flatforms to sell our stock during the current travel restrictions.

The collector car community is still very much focused on moving forward, with classic car enthusiasts looking for their next car. Classic car buyers are spending more time browsing the classifieds on our website and related links.

Please take the time to have a look at our website, and let me know if you would like any further details.

Conditions in the classic car market seem to have stabilised and although prices are still at an all-time high, sales are still good.

The overseas market is still at an optimum, and hundreds of our classics are still leaving the UK, which is atributing to such prices.
